The 15 Percent Who Will Decide the Senate Race in Kentucky

Jake has the numbers:

Public Policy Polling just released data on the Kentucky U.S. Senate race.

The poll results:

* Jack Conway 43%
* Rand Paul 43%
* Undecided 14%

Crosstab Highlights:

* 37% Approve of Obama’s job performance, 58% disapprove
* 31% support health care reform, 60% disapprove
* 31% find Jack Conway favorable, 29% unfavorable, 40% not sure
* 34% find Rand Paul favorable, 42% unfavorable (wow), 24% not sure
* 36% think the media is treating Liberty Christ fairly, 42% unfairly, 23% not sure
* 16% think Rand is too liberal, 26% too conservative, 45% about right, 13% not sure
* 36% think Jack is too liberal, 7% too conservative, 42% about right, 15% not sure
* 68% support the Civil Rights Act, 7% don’t, 25% not sure (!)
* 9% think private business should be able to discriminate on race, 83% don’t, 8% not sure
* 68% think the law should require serving disabled customers, 19% don’t, 13% not sure

You know what's coming. Conway's gonna take one look at the 36 percent who think he's too liberal and start trying to out-teabag Paul.

The truth, of course, is that those 36 percent will think Conway's too liberal even if Ronaldus Magnus himself endorsed him. They are wingnut freakazoids teabaggers who will never, never, NEVER vote for a Democratic candidate.

The voters he needs to work on are the seven percent who think he's too conservative and the 15 percent who aren't sure. Those last are the give-me-a-reason-to-vote Democratic voters, and they will flock to a Real Democratic candidate if they ever see one.

Give Democratic voters a reason to vote for you, Jack. Call out Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul for deliberately and with malice aforethought preventing the Democratic Senate from rescuing the economy with desperately-needed stimulus.

Tell McConnell and Paul to stop sacrificing hard-working Kentuckians on the altar of Wall Street and BP and Blackwater.

Stand tall for real Democratic values of good jobs at good pay with good benefits right here at home, not fighting a lost war in a desert hellhole to enrich defense contractors.

Real Democrats who campaign on Real Democratic values win in red states. Ask Alan Grayson.
