Those Terrible Anti-Nazis Forced An Innocent Nazi to Run Them Down And Kill Them

Yep, that's the word from our wonderful media and our perfect 45th president.  Because that's what "I condemn violence on both sides" really means.

There was violence on only one side, you disgusting piece of shit. The Nazi, the racist, homophobic, xenophobic, anti-American trump voter crashed his car directly into a crowd of unarmed people protesting against the Nazi demonstrators.

And the drooling moron those very Nazis love so much is blaming the victims.  One of whom is dead.

Say, should anyone in particular be condemned for this? Certainly: those on all sides who hate. Not the organizers of the “Unite the Right” rally or even the murderer who smashed at high speed into a crowd of people there to condemn hatred, because after all, as David Duke reminded his president earlier today, he owes a good part of his victory to them.
When I say they are out to kill us, I mean They. Are. Literally. Killing. Us. Now.

UPDATE:  Josh Marshall, as always, nails it:
Trump refuses to condemn these people because he recognizes them as supporters and he supports them. That’s the truth. Anything else is denial.

How can this even surprise us? His top advisor ran the publication that courted and popularized the beliefs and actions of these same people. It’s all out in the open. Don’t ask why he can’t condemn them. We know.

The calls are coming from inside the house.

Trump Voters Aren't Dems and Never Will Be

So yeah, all those supposedly unhappy Trump voters here in Kentucky who are worried about losing their health care and him not bringing back coal jobs?  They'd have voted for Trump again in a heartbeat, knowing what they know now, because in the end America is completely cool with the racist asshole running a country of majority racist assholes.

As I keep saying the problem in this country isn't Trump, it's the people who voted for Trump knowing full well what he is, and especially the 96% of Trump voters who would still vote for him today.  They are the problem, and I want not a damn thing to do with them.

So can we formally dispense with trying to "win Trump voters" as Democrats?  It's not happening. They're a cult.  Let's worry about getting the 47% of people who didn't vote at all interested in saving their country instead.

Still Treason in Defense of Slavery

These motherfuckers never quit.  That's why we need to shut them down at every opportunity.

In the wee hours of Monday morning in New Orleans, workers wearing flak jackets and military-style helmets, with balaclavas over their faces to protect their identity, removed the first of four monuments to the Confederacy that the city council voted to get rid of in 2015. The military-grade armor, supplemented by snipers on nearby rooftops, was deemed a necessary precaution for the workers after death threats were made toward contractors. Just to be on the safe side, even the name of the company on the sides of the trucks hauling the monument away was covered up with cardboard, because some people really, really love the losing side in the U.S. Civil War — which, as you know, was only about tariffs and states’ rights.

The big ugly obelisk taken down Monday commemorated the “Battle of Liberty Place,” a failed 1874 coup by white supremacists during Reconstruction, and included this cheery inscription remembering — with lots of heritage but no hate at all — what a terrific time for white supremacy that was:

SNIP

Plenty of people in New Orleans are perfectly happy to see the Confederate monuments go; for a nice thinky-piece on the real historical significance of taking down these tributes to white supremacy, see this Times-Picayune op-ed arguing that the monuments themselves were a despicable revision of history in pretending the Civil War was a noble fight for freedom and self-determination — for a bunch of slaveholders. Says columnist Jarvis DeBerry,
Apparently, the crime of rewriting history is far worse than the crime of being a warmongering, secessionist white supremacist. The crime of rewriting history, to hear the monument-huggers tell it, is offensive in a way that slaveholding is not and treason is not and the decision to elevate and honor slave-holding traitors is not.
But the real revisionism, he says, was embodied by the monuments themselves, erected after Reconstruction to help advance the lie of the Noble Lost Cause, depicting the integrated city government as “usurpers” and lionizing the brave racist insurrectionists who tried to murder as many as possible.

Erik Loomis at LGM:
I know people will say, and not just neo-Confederates, that these are history and shouldn’t be torn down. But let’s be clear. New Orleans is a black city and was a black city in the 1890s. These monuments, among them some of the most imposing Confederate monuments erected, were placed there an overt symbol of post-Reconstruction white power. They were intended to intimidate African-Americans into submission. They are an insult to every African-American in New Orleans. We need to remember history, but we are not obligated to leave the public monuments of our racist ancestors there because of some vague appreciation of the past. These things are living, breathing symbols of white supremacy and they need to go. That this is happening in 2017 is all the more important.

The Resistance: Exposing the Racist Hate in Eastern Kentucky

Speaking of whiny white boys, they're not getting away with a White Supremacy meeting in Eastern Kentucky without facing protest.

A white nationalist (sic - White Supremacist, or Racist Motherfuckers for short) organization has announced on Facebook its plans for an Eastern Kentucky rally and workshop at a Floyd County state park, sparking opposition and outrage on social media.

The Traditionalist Worker Party boasts in a Facebook post on Tuesday that it's holding the event and a rally in nearby Pikeville to recruit more members and to conduct workshops to professionalize its organization. Events are scheduled for April 28 and 29.

The posting notes the predominantly "European" nature of the area's population and the hard economic times there in recent years.
And they're hiding in a state park in hopes of avoiding protests. Hey moron:  Kentucky State Parks are PUBLIC and protesters will find you in whatever filthy shithole you cower in.
Gil Lawson, spokesman for Kentucky State Parks, said he was looking into the situation.

The Courier-Journal in October reported that a leader of the white-power Traditionalist Worker Party was alleged to have been involved in the assaulting of Shiya Nwanguma at a Donald Trump rally in Louisville during the presidential campaign.

The group is allied with neo-nazi organizations, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which follows hate groups across the country.

"The Traditionalist Workers Party is a white nationalist group that advocates for racially pure nations and communities and blames Jews for many of the world’s problems," according to the law center's website. "Even as it claims to oppose racism, saying every race deserves its own lands and culture, the group is intimately allied with neo-Nazi and other hardline racist organizations that espouse unvarnished white supremacist views."
Counter-protests are in the planning stage.  We will keep you updated as we learn more.

The Resistance: How the Minority Party Cheats

This is the kind of thing Zachary Roth was referring to when he wrote:
Today’s conservatives have no such confidence that the people are on their side. In fact, they are beginning to perceive that they’re in the minority – perhaps more glaringly than ever before. And yet this realization has brought with it another more hopeful one: being outnumbered doesn’t have to mean losing.
Roth goes on to describe the various assaults on democracy that are being embraced by Republicans in order to avoid losing, even in the minority. Doug Muder wrote about about how these attacks on our democratic institutions are fueled by igniting a confederate insurgency:
The essence of the Confederate worldview is that the democratic process cannot legitimately change the established social order, and so all forms of legal and illegal resistance are justified when it tries…

The Confederate sees a divinely ordained way things are supposed to be, and defends it at all costs. No process, no matter how orderly or democratic, can justify fundamental change.

Shared Values

Racism is so much more rewarding when it's sanctified by your church.

http://freethoughtblogs.com/pharyngula/files/2016/11/christianKKK.jpg
That’s easy. They’ve encouraged them to get rid of the sheets, stop burning crosses, put on nice clothes, get elected to high office, and perpetuate the same hate and discrimination and oppression under a different name: “alt right”, “white nationalism”, “conservativism”. The KKK, a Christian racist organization, has shriveled away as it took over the Republican party, a Christian racist organization.

The Church Lady now says, “Don’t you dare call their policies racist! That’s offensive!”

What Violent Racists?

Yeah, I remember after election day 2008 all the Blacks harassing and attacking whites and threatening that President Obama would take them out ... oh, wait.
A University of Louisiana at Lafayette student was allegedly beaten and had her hijab ripped off in broad daylight during a robbery committed by two men, one of whom she said was allegedly wearing a white "Trump" hat, police and university officials told The Advertiser Wednesday.
The unnamed woman said she was attacked while walking around 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to the paper. She was allegedly hit with a metal object and knocked down by two men who exited from a silver vehicle.

An officer with the Lafayette Police Department told the Advertiser that the men "were saying ugly stuff to her," but did not tell the paper what was said. Her wallet was stolen.
Kareem Attia, president of the Muslim Student Association at UL-Lafayette, told the Washington Post that the attack has had a profound effect on campus, saying that Muslim students are "very integrated" into the campus, which is two-thirds white.

"No one wants this to happen, and it's hitting home for us," he told The Washington Post in an interview. "The idea that a person in your community could be targeted just for wearing a headscarf, which is part of our religion, it's disgusting. It's very un-American."

The attack happened on the same day that a Muslim student at San Diego State University was allegedly robbed and may have had her car stolen by two men who made comments about Donald Trump and Muslim people, according to the Post report.
Just arrest all the trump voters and deport the motherfuckers to the Philippines, the president of which makes trump seem like jimmy carter.

Yet Another Vicious Black Lives Matter Attack on a Harmless White Supremacist

These motherfuckers aren't expressing political opinions.  They're a clear and present danger to our democratic republic.

Think Progress:
On Tuesday night, a white supremacist in Olympia, Washington stabbed a black man on the street in an apparent crusade to fight Black Lives Matter. The suspect later reported to police that he’d taken “a blood oath to to fight on the street” and was acting on behalf of law enforcement.

The unidentified victim was standing outside a bar in downtown Olympia, smoking a cigarette with his white girlfriend, when the suspect ran up and stabbed him in the abdomen. The woman was also injured. The two survived — and were able to catch the perpetrator and report him to the authorities.
The suspect had multiple racially-charged tattoos with phrases like “White Power” and “Skinhead,” and told police that he was downtown because word had spread about anti-police graffiti there. He claimed Black Lives Matter was responsible for the graffiti, even though law enforcement never confirmed that was the case.

According to court documents filed after the incident, the suspect assured officers that he was acting on their behalf.

“At one point he stated that he knew we couldn’t hurt the black groups on the street so he wanted to let us know that he takes care of them for us,” police wrote. “That he is able to fight those fights and will continue the fight against all of the Black Lives Matters people.”

The suspect, who told police he’d done time at the Washington State Penitentiary, also informed them that he wanted to attend a Donald Trump rally to continue “stomping out more of the Black Lives Matter group.”

The stabbing on Tuesday fits into a surge of white supremacy in the U.S., which has been supported — and encouraged — by the Republican presidential nominee. Trump frequently reposts racist messages and memes on social media and refers to his “heritage” in speeches — coded language that’s earned him the support of the KKK. On Wednesday, he likened Hillary Clinton to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, borrowing language from white supremacist groups. And last week, Trump made a veiled call for white supremacists to gun down Hillary Clinton.

Black Lives Matter has been targeted in the past year. Last November, as members of the group gathered in Minneapolis to protest the police shooting of Jamar Clark, white supremacists showered them with bullets. And on Wednesday, the Ku Klux Klan announced that it would crash a Black Lives Matter rally in Long Island, New York.
And no, the murderer is not going to be tried, much less convicted, much less executed. If he gets more than a week of jail time before he gets released on his own recognizance while waiting for the charges to be dropped, I'll be amazed.

Treason Defenders Demand Special Treatment for Treason's President

Again, class:  The Civil War was about slavery, according to the writings of secession leaders at the time, and nothing but slavery; secession was Treason in Defense of Slavery, and confederates then and now are Traitors in Defense of Slavery.

Kentucky should be ashamed that Treason's President was born inside our borders.

Jack Brammer at the Herald:

A group known as The Friends of the Jefferson Davis State Historic Site is seeking a military designation for the controversial Davis statue in the Capitol Rotunda — a move that would make it more difficult to remove the statue from the Capitol.

State curator Leslie Nigels of Louisville and Steve Collins, chairman of the state Historic Properties Advisory Commission, said Thursday they do not know the group and are studying implications of giving the statue a military designation.

Ed Georgen, president of the citizens group from Lyon County, acknowledged in a telephone interview that the designation would require the advisory commission to get approval from the Kentucky Military Heritage Commission before ever moving the statue.

Currently, the advisory commission has sole legal authority in overseeing the statues in the Capitol. Last August, it voted 7-2-1 to keep the Davis statue in the building.

A debate has raged in Kentucky for years about whether the statue of the president of the Confederacy in the Civil War should be displayed just outside the governor’s office.

SNIP

Several Kentucky politicians, including now Gov. Matt Bevin, House Speaker Greg Stumbo and Senate President Robert Stivers, advocated moving the Tennessee marble likeness of Davis, who was born in Kentucky, to the Kentucky History Center in Frankfort or to the Jefferson Davis Historic Site in Todd County.

The issue never came up in this year’s state legislative session.

Raoul Cunningham, president of the Kentucky State Conference and Louisville chapter of the NAACP, said the commission “whitewashed” the issue and promised that debate about the statue’s location would continue.

Cunningham said Thursday it would be a mistake for the historic properties advisory commission to allow the military heritage commission to have a say in whether the statue should ever be removed.
“We would oppose giving the Davis statue the military designation this citizens’ group is seeking,” he said.

Not Gonna Be Nice: The Mother Fuckers Are Wrong

Via Tom Sullivan at Hullabaloo:

Doctor Zoom at Wonkette crystallized the absurdity:
Of course U.S. America should take in refugees. It’s our fucking job. The alternative is to leave them stuck in hell, where they will either die or become radicalized against the United States. Or else we might as well replace the plaque on that nice welcoming statue in New York Harbor with one that reads, “Sucks to be you.” The lesson of World War II was supposed to be “Never Again,” not “leave ’em to die because they’re scary foreigners with the wrong religion.”

If only they weren't so very wrong, so very often, perhaps we could take the fear-mongering politicians seriously.

Repugs Love the CRAZY Shit Carson Spouts; Still Won't Vote for a Ni**er

I told you Bevin would beat Jack "I-lost-to-Rand-Paul" Conway.  Now I'm telling you there isn't a white repug (and 99.999 percent of them are white) on earth who will vote for Ben "I'm-a-good-ni**er" Carson.

But as we approach voting season, with Carson not only leading most polls but exhibiting (among Republicans, anyway) unearthly approval ratios, the increasingly compelling question is whether GOP voters aren’t hearing The Crazy in Carson’s calm, “common-sense” discourse, or are hearing it and agree.
Yes, Ed, they do agree.  They want a candidate and a president exactly as motherfucking crazy as Ben Carson.  A WHITE candidate and president exactly as motherfucking crazy as Ben Carson.

I said it before:  Carson could go into Iowa with 99 percent approval; he'll still come out with precisely zero votes.

We Still Can't Breath: Don't Back Down

Don't let the crybaby antics of a bunch of KKK apologists intimidate you from calling out the racist murderers and their protectors.

Dave Zirin in The Nation is referring specifically to athletes, but it applies to all of us.
If the athlete-activists do retreat into silence, it would be a tragic mistake. Now more than ever, players who wore the slogan “I Can’t Breathe” a week ago should wear it today. In fact, trying to find your breath when police and media are declaring war against a peaceful movement could not be more critical.

For players to say that standing with the families of Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Tamir Rice and others would now be “inappropriate” is a concession to political actors who are maliciously reframing why they stepped up in the first place. The senseless murder of two police officers by a suicidal lone gunman with a history of mental illness in no way negates the single most important organizing principle of the movement: that black lives matter. Those like Rudy Giuliani, George Pataki, and their ilk who are equating this movement with violence and murder have never given a damn about opposing police brutality. Instead, they see themselves as foot soldiers in a bigger project of chilling, burying or even criminalizing all criticism of anyone who wears a badge.

The entire focus of everyone involved in this movement—from the people in the street to LeBron and Derrick Rose—has been to demand that African-Americans be afforded the same humanity as everyone else: to be treated as people and not “demons” that need to be put down. There is nothing in the slogans “black lives matter” or “I can’t breathe” or the marches and die-ins that remotely suggests that projecting violence toward police is a solution to police violence. In fact, we have seen athletes like the NFL’s Reggie Bush and pro wrestler MVP who have been both part of the movement and have police officers in their immediate family. Given the explicit calls for vengeance by the NYPD and the rush by the media to place the blame for the shooting on people protesting violence, athletes could use their stature to assert that this movement is just.

I am well aware that this is easy as hell for me to say. It’s not my risk. It’s not my paycheck. It’s not my livelihood. But when you lend support to a movement, you bear a responsibility for that movement’s well being. Black lives matter, and in fact that needs to be expressed with urgency. As long-time criminal justice organizer Keeanga Yahmatta-Taylor said to me, “I can hardly imagine the fear coursing through black New York today. Don’t let your young sons out of the house. This is what we can’t give into—the siege in black communities to avenge murder in the name of the law.” It’s easy when management is patting you on the back, thousands are in the street and Fox News is in the corner mumbling to itself. But now the sunshine is gone and the chill is settling in. If LeBron or Derrick Rose—hell, if Nik Stauskas or Jeremy Lin—can turn their spotlight into even a little bit of sunlight, it will make a difference. If you believed that LeBron, Kenny Britt, Ariyana Smith, the women of Berkeley and so many other athlete activists were on the side of right a week ago, then there is no reason to not believe that they are still right today. Their voices are needed more than ever.

How to Do "Civil Disobedience" on Immigration

I'm afraid their real plan is to set up sniper nests on the Mexico border to mow down anyone they see, but a TPM reader has a better idea.

Yesterday, Sen. Tom Coburn suggested that President Obama's immigration executive order might lead to "civil disobedience", "anarchy", or even political "violence." I asked just what that civil disobedience might look like and TPM Reader FS has an idea of what anti-immigrant forces might have in mind ...
My suggestion for what civil disobedience should look like is to move to Phoenix, trade their imitation Army rifles for shovels, and do a protest march through the residential subdivisions, pulling weeds as they go.
They should march into restaurant kitchens, offering to wash dishes for free. Or volunteer to man the drive through at any of a hundred fast food joints. Maybe ask a California cabbage farmer if they have anything needs harvesting. Those are the jobs illegal immigrants might be taking away.
 Read the whole thing.
