I still think the "Rally to Restore Sanity" was stupid and dangerous. At the very moment the repugs were revealing themselves as destructive nihilists, Stewart and Colbert gave them bipartisan cover.
But this sign is dead on.

I remember some years ago during the reign of C-Plus Augustus, there as an evening vote scheduled in the Senate on taxes, and the local station interviewed George "Macaca" Allen, the - mercifully - one-term Senator from Virginia. Every time he had to say "Democrats" he would yammer, "Tax and spend Democrats". Over and over. It had me screaming at the TV.
Some of my more Reich friends would repeat that bullshit and I would turn on them and argue that tax and spend is correct - because it pays the damn bills! - unlike you conservative %@%#^$&'s who just run up the tab for the next generation! Clinton RAISED taxes and the debt went down!
Bill Clinton got rid of the deficit. And then came C-Plus Augustus; and Ayn Rand’s bitch-boy, Alan Greenspan, who had spent years fretting about the deficit, suddenly decided the great danger we faced was not having a deficit. And you know the rest!
Still pisses me off.
