KY to "Monitor" Home Schools. If Only.

Not monitor in terms of actually determining whether the "teacher" is using accredited teaching materials to instruct the child for several hours each of five days per week, but monitor in terms of someone in the house claiming to be home-schooling, lack of evidence to the contrary.

No, of course Kentucky doesn't legally require home-schooling parents to teach their mouth-breathing, slope-foreheaded spawn a fucking thing, much less demand they use accredited curriculum materials backed up by independent testing of the students.

Meanwhile, Kentucky voters are getting stupider by the day.  That's not a coincidence.

Valerie Honeycutt-Spears at the Herald:
The state is going to start tracking high school students who withdraw to attend a home school to make sure they aren't just dropping out altogether.

Kentucky education officials recently announced that all local school boards voluntarily adopted a policy to raise the dropout age from 16 to 18, starting in the fall for most districts.

But Kentucky Education Commissioner Terry Holliday has heard a complaint that some school officials, in an effort to keep dropout numbers low, are encouraging students to withdraw and say they are in home school when, "in actuality, no home school existed," Holliday said in an interview.

To determine if the concerns are valid, he said, a new annual report will monitor the number of high school students who withdraw each year to attend home school.

The Kentucky Department of Education will provide numbers by district and high school.

Currently, about 5,000 students a year withdraw and enroll in home schools. That is less than 1 percent of the total student population, Holliday said in his blog.
Why should you not trust a fucking thing Holliday has to say about education?  This is why:
He said in an interview that he had no problem with parents who think home schooling is appropriate for their children and that many of the students who have withdrawn from public school are probably in appropriate home schools.
Moron. Or lying politician. Motherfucker either way.
