Stand-Up Guy Tony Weiner Calls Out the Cowards

Never fails to amaze me - the willingness of conservatards and freakazoids to reveal their existential terror of female sexuality.

Especially when liberals like Tony Weiner are there to point out the cowardice and hypocrisy.

Heather at Crooks and Liars:

Thank you Congressman Weiner for calling out these hypocritical Republicans for their so-called conservative views. As Anthony Weiner pointed out here, Republicans are all for less government regulation, unless it means the right to regulate a woman's uterus. They don't want government to get between a patient and their doctor unless it means making sure that poor women don't have access to a legal procedure.

When Democratic Representatives Attack

Until Alan Grayson takes his seat back in 2012, his place as Democratic House Attack Dog is well filled by our new favorite dem.

TPM:

During the House debate on repeal of health care reform (Wednesday), Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) reprised his famous (or infamous) rant against Republicans: "You know, I want to just advise people watching at home playing that now popular drinking game of 'you take a shot whenever Republicans say something that's not true.' Please assign a designated driver. This is going to be a long afternoon."

Whereas back in July, Weiner was angry about the Republicans' failure to pass the 9/11 first responders health care bill, today it was about the efforts to repeal health care reform in its entirety: "First they start by making stuff up. You kind of have to wonder if any of them actually read the bill. 130,000 new agencies, not true. New IRS agents, not true. Death panels, not true. Members aren't covered. Not true. No tort reform in it. Not true."

Your Health Care Reform Hero: Rep. Anthony Weiner

I never watch Morning Joe; life's too short to waste on Teh Stooopid. But last week Public Option Advocate Hero Rep. Anthony Weiner actually ignited something resembling sentience in Dense Joke and Ditsy Mika.

Leslie Savan at The Nation:

Something rather remarkable happened on Tuesday's Morning Joe. Rep. Anthony Weiner of New York pointed out that the health insurance industry has no clothes, and Joe Scarborough, after first trying to spin it some gossamer threads, broke down and said, By God, you're right, this emperor is a naked money-making machine!

Well, he didn't use those exact words, but Joe did seem to finally get that America has granted insurance companies the right to create bottlenecks in the financing of healthcare in order to extract profits out of the suffering of ordinary people--without providing any actual healthcare whatsoever.
