Ky Repugs Abusing the Poors for Fun and Profit

Oh for Fuck's Sake.

People on public assistance get $1.40 per person per meal in food stamps and next to nothing in help with rent, utilities, clothing and transportation. That leaves them millions of dollars a month to waste on dirty movies and psychics.

What this bill really tells you is what repug legislators spend their discretionary dollars on.

Mike Wynn at the Courier:

The Senate Health and Welfare Committee advanced legislation Wednesday to combat abuse of public assistance benefits despite concerns that it could impact sales at grocery stores or similar businesses.

Senate Bill 46 would prohibit any public assistance money from being spent in establishments that primarily sell alcohol, tobacco, adult entertainment or psychic services. It also forbids spending assistance on gambling, tattoos and illegal substances or trading electronic benefit cards for cash.

If passed into law, violators could lose public assistance benefits, and store owners could face fines if they knowingly accept benefit cards for purchase of banned products.

The measure cleared the committee without opposition, but some lawmakers said revisions are needed to clarify its intent.

Sen. Tom Buford, R-Nicholasville, called for stronger definitions in the bill to protect sales at grocery stores and gas stations that sell alcohol or offer video rental services as part of a larger business model.

“I got to tell you, in those videos, sometimes they are just rated ‘R’, but they take all their clothes off in those movies,” he said.
Hey, Buford: Kroger also sells CONDOMS. Which people use to have SEX. Without jeebus-ordered CONSEQUENCES. Can't have the poors buying food THERE.
