Icewater Mansions

Today is the 34th anniversary of the most famous of the Great Lakes' thousands of shipwrecks: The Edmund Fitzgerald.

Musically one of the simplest, yet most moving songs ever recorded. Thank you, YD, for reminding us of this tragedy. God knows there have been lots more before and in the intervening years, none more or less important than another. Somehow, this song, about this shipwreck, brings us closer to it, to them, than we could have been otherwise.

Again, thank you.

The departure of the fitzGerald was unnecessary. So was ALL the loss of life.
