From what? The Union? Tried that once and failed miserably.
From "confiscatory federal taxes?" Would that be the same federal tax system that returns to The South a buck and a half of federal spending for every buck of taxes The South pays?
From impossible if-it's-not-a-hurricane-or-tornado-it's-a-drought summer weather? Talk to your genius legislators who are still denying global climate change.
No, I think we know from what you want "The South" to be freed:
From the Voting Rights Act, Civil Rights Act, and 13th Amendment for that matter. The South has been denied its invisible-sky-wizard-given right to exploit ni**ers for far too long.
From those mezkins who are the only thing keeping the southern economy from collapsing completely. They can have the fields and janitor closets, but keep their little yard apes out of the schools.
From the scientists whose inconvenient facts threaten your baseless freakazoid superstitions.
From the homos who so terrify you, the bitches taking jobs from men who really need them, the enviros who prefer mountaintops to parking lots.
I'm a Southerner, but I reject The South you want freed.

Free us in the South from "in the South" political mind-set. Remember when the attitude was if we vote:
for it - it's legal
if not - it ain't.
They used this to maintain segregation, the dual school system and keep the cops off the KKK.
The Southern attitude that if rights are popular they are law and belong to white people. White people may annoint others: red, black, yellow or brown as they wish - individually. Hence Stepin Fetchit and Uncle Tom.
Rights are not subject to popular opinion nor are they pick and choose. As popular as the KKK is in the South for intimidation of people of color, Jews, Roman Catholics, Muslems and Native Americans (North, Central & South). The good ole boyz from the south will all deny belonging, due to legal issues. They're just chicken shits; won't ever stand alone against one of the inferiors. Somehow against 1 inferior any 1 good ole' boy, all good ole boyz know they aren't equal. Now you put about 4 or 5 good ole boyz up against 1 of the 'inferiors' it's a different story.
If you ain't white, Protestant, fundie (or charismatic), you're not equal - or if you're a yankee or a woman. Come to think about it; Shrub, Rummie & Dead-eye are excellent examples of good ole boyz from the south. And how they behave, their values and their beliefs.bb
