Alan Grayson on What It Means To Be A Democrat

From Florida blog Blast Off, which has the delightful motto "Keeping America's Wang™ safe for progressives (and snark) since 2004":

Biggest cheers of the day so far go to Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.), who just gave the briefest yet most well-received speech of the morning. I'll paraphrase a couple of his remarks (which I livetweeted) for your enjoyment:

"Democrats are the party of people with a conscience. We ought to rename the Democratic Party the 'Conscience Party.' Republicans, though, ought to be renamed the 'Selfish Party.' "

"We've known for 3,000 years that a good society feeds the hungry, shelters the homeless, and takes care of the sick."

"Republicans are 'no-mongers.' They actually read books like The Virtue of Being Selfish."

He didn't speak long, but as he's done for you on your teevee, Rep. Grayson certainly made an impression.

Cloners! Where are the cloners when you need them?
