Reality-Based Liberals Beat Freakazoids in WYMT Poll

Memo to all online poll-writers: When you deliberately phrase a question to distort facts, history and reality, and provide choices to give your preferred answer a huge advantage, you are just begging for the reality-based community to crash it.

Which is exactly what a couple thousand of PZ Myers' godless liberal minions managed in the course of about two hours this morning.

Let's smash this silly poll about the status of the US.

President Obama said, 'We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation, or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of a values.' How do you feel about those comments?

Offended - America is still a Christian nation - 78.4%
Agree - No one religion is more important - 10.0%
Agree - Our country is not based on religious beliefs - 9.3%
Don't care - 2.3%

Crazy. There's something these people need to understand: that the nation and its government are secular does not mean that individuals cannot be religious. Similarly, this is not an atheist country, but that doesn't mean a citizen can't be an atheist.

That was at 10:45 a.m. At 1:00 p.m., the results were completely reversed: 78 percent Real American secularists and just 15 percent freakazoid.

Apologies to those of you who have already spotted the multiple ways this "poll" is biased, false, misleading, a-historical, ignorant, stupid and un-American, but let's review quickly:

  • "How do you feel about those comments" is a blatant ploy to elicit unthinking emotion rather than rational thought.
  • "Offended" is not parallel to "Agree." It's either "Agree" vs "Disagree" or "Offended" vs "Pleased, Proud and Gratified."
  • Two possible "agree" answers vs one possible "offended" answer splits the "agree" vote and gives "offended" an automatic 50 percent advantage.
  • "America is still a Christian nation" is a blatant lie. America never has been a christian nation.
  • President Obama's statement is not his opinion; it is a plain, unbiased statement of historical fact. If you really don't know by now that the U.S. Constitution never mentions any "god" and specifically bans any religious test for public office, then you really don't know enough to vote in online polls, much less actual elections.

This isn't the first time WYMT, which is the Hazard sister-station of Lexington's WKYT, has run "polls" that reveal its bias against facts, history, science and reality. It's also not the first time reality-based liberals, alerted by PZ Myers and other bloggers, have smashed the fuckers.

So keep it up, WYMT. We're ready for you.

99% of the time I'd write you a check on your opimion. Since I'm from out-state where LouIngTon residents are a cut lower than whale shit, your small prpaganda victory rubbing shit in their faces just cost us 10% of our initial available vote count in Harlan, Perry, Letcher, Floyd, Johnson, Knox, Knott, Bell, Pike, Lawrence, Menifee, Martin, Wolfe, Jackson, Lee, Breathitt, Powell and a couple more my former K.C. & western Ky mind has forgotten.

Truely, we who are part of the unwholely alliance salute LouIngTon natives and residents with the bird and a mooning.
We don't like you. We find your patronizing and condescending attitude reprehensible, more reprehensible than our natives we've left behind when not returning home after college.

Share a tale: Class of '62, 180 grads, 120 went to college, 107 graduated, 65 of 83 males to VietNam and 2 more not to VietNam, 93 Purple Hearts, 13 of the college grads returned to live & work, 3 of the vets are permanently and totally disabled and live there, less than half of the remaining grads stayed to farm, mine or work at Enro or National Mine. About 25 of us are in the Lex area, 10 in Covington environs and 40 in Louisville - the rest ... Florida, dead elsewhere, Georgia, Tn, In, Il, & Ed Whitfield who doesn't live in Hoptown. I go back to visit and the only questions I get are, "How can you stand them; they're soooooo superficial and know-it-all=NOT!

They who salute you daily with the bird and a moon shot think less of you than you do of them. This is a reality you don't like and shirley will challenge to your defeat.

They, in their manifest stubbornness or ignorance or unrelenting stupidity will continue to elect Jim Gooch with greater margins than moderates like Brent Younts & Jerry Rhoades receive. Eddie Ballard has the same voting record as Gooch, but keeps his mouth shut and returns with narrower margins. Gooch isn't believed when he shoots his mouth toward his foot - he gets more votes after doing so - because he pinned the tail on the (collective)ass of LouIngTon. He thumbed his nose at the liberals in the big sitty and made them eat shit, 'cause he dint git beet.

Dog, you can rip those who need it a new one better than I can. But this next election isn't going to be won in LouIngTon; it's going to be won outside LouIngTon.

We have an educational task in front of us and as much as I WANT Conway to be the next Senator - not in this electoral climate found outside LouIngTon. We have so much resistance to our message and our message is so different from their experience and far from their superstition that rubbing their noses and faces in it isn't going to help.

This isn't to call you out. You're a dude amoung duds. I'm more interested in cooperating to elect Conway than in obstructing.
.

I still want to see you do a number on Michelle Bachman. When it comes to tit for tat with women, I'm a no witnesses kind of guy and women in general think I go too far even with men - much less women.
