No, the Supreme Court Hasn't Turned Liberal

It's just that Roberts and Kennedy don't really give a shit since finishing their real work in 2013.

Pema Levy at Mother Jones:
The decision was a welcome surprise to civil rights advocates who had feared that the conservative-leaning court under Chief Justice John Roberts—the same court that struck down part of the 1965 Voting Rights Act two years ago—was set to undo another major civil rights law.
But they should not have been surprised.  Gutting the Voting Rights Act was the first, last and only victory repugs and conservatards needed.  Who the fuck cares what the "law" says if only repugs are making the laws?  Not to mention judicial appointments.

The U.S. has always been a liberal country - nationally.  But red states have always outnumbered blue states, despite having far smaller populations.  With voting rights gone, those red states can pass all the voter suppression laws they want.  Fuck, I bet if Texas passed a law barring anyone who ever registered Democratic from voting, no court would overturn it.

Repugs will own the red states, thus own the U.S. Senate, thus own the Supreme Court.

American Democracy died the day John Roberts butchered the Voting Rights Act.
