Occupy Louisville Permit Extended - With Restrictions

Mayor Greg Fischer is no fan of Occupy, and probably envies the police thuggery Oakland Mayor Quan has at her disposal, so this amounts to a victory, albeit temporary and constricted.

The city has extended an event permit that allows Occupy Louisville protesters to camp overnight in Founder’s Square Park through the end of March.

The permit includes added requirements for the protesters, including payment for electricity used in the park and adding at least two portable restrooms.

Curtis Morrison, an Occupy movement member, said he and other movement supporters saw the action as a “refreshing attitude of compassion as opposed to being against us and intolerant.” But he said Occupy supporters see the added requirements as a way for the city to impose unwarranted restrictions to deter protesters from staying in the park.
