If Anything Can Put Conway Over the Top, This Is It

More than a few Kentucky Democrats were incensed last year when Mitch McConnell became the longest-serving U.S. Senator in Kentucky history.

Not just because the title went to a repug scumbag like Mitchie-poo, but because he took that honor away from 24-year Senator Wendell Ford, still today - 12 years after he retired and his seat fell into Jim Bunning's senile hands - the most admired Democrat in Kentucky.

Now that icon, that symbol of the days of unchallenged Democratic Power in Kentucky, has endorsed a candidate in the Democratic Primary for U.S. Senate: Jack Conway.

From Amanda van Benschoten at nky.com:

Former U.S. senator Wendell Ford has endorsed Attorney General Jack Conway in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate.

Conway is locked in a close race with Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo for the Democratic nomination to the seat now held by Sen. Jim Bunning, R-Southgate, who will retire when his term expires at the end of the year. Ford held the seat for 24 years before Bunning, and Conway has repeatedly promised on the campaign trail to “retake Wendell Ford’s seat” for Kentucky Democrats.

“Jack Conway is the best candidate for Kentucky and that’s why I am supporting him,” Ford said in a statement released by the Conway campaign.

The latest polls had Conway down eight points to Mongiardo two weeks before the May 18th primary (Jake has the deets and questions) and Conway is still denying reality and sucking Big Coal's cock by opposing climate legislation.

If the upcoming SUSA poll has it within five points, I'll probably climb into a hazmat suit and vote for Conway. But if Mangy's running away with it, I'm going with Real Democrats Darlene Price or Maurice Sweeney.
