Fourth of July: The Immigrant Holiday

My "illegal" immigrant ancestors and their "anchor baby" children fought in the Revolutionary War. To me, the Fourth of July, this nation's birthday, celebrates the fundamental truth of the United States: we are a nation of immigrants.

For all his obeisance to the Corporate Plutocracy, President Barack Obama understands that. He couldn't muster his soaring, passionate rhetoric to demand comprehensive climate and energy legislation, but he could and did for immigration:
