Up Against the Wall, Motherfuckers!

The indispensable Rude Pundit on punishing republicans:

They need to be punished. It's really about the only thing Americans as a whole understand. You try to fuck up someone's shit, you gotta pay.

The Obama administration is, to some extent, misreading the zeitgeist of the election. When many, many people voted for "hope" and "change," what they were voting for was to punish those fuckers who fucked it all up. Americans like to punish. For good or ill, it's one of those things we're particularly skilled at. Take the economic crisis. What David Axelrod understood and what Tim Geithner misread was that the vast majority of Americans don't want the president of Wells Fargo handed a shitload of cash and be told to keep it above the waist. No, they want him set on fire on the steps of the Federal Reserve.

This idea of punishment is not a simple thing. Remember: the election in November was not the revenge. It was a vote to set up the comeuppance. Truly, if it were a different era and we were a different people, the Bush administration would have been hanged in toto sometime in 2006 or 2007. We're not that far removed from that savagery. At the end of the day, there's gotta be consequences for people's actions or there's gonna be chaos.

Read the whole thing.

I agree that punishment is in order, and the sooner the better. In somewhat the Rude Pundit's vernacular, I would suggest the following punishment: Take all neocons, obstructionist Republicans, and the board members of major corporations who exported American jobs for profit, as well as those of all bailout banks, and put them, stripped naked, at the top of a very long, steep staircase. Then make them slide down the razor-blade-lined banister to land in a deep vat of rubbing alcohol at bottom. Even that punishment would be too good for them!

Yeah, Jack, but at least the alcohol would serve as a disinfectant, and keep them alive and suffering all the longer.

Did I say that? Yeah, I guess I did. Man, you see what these fuckers have done to me? I used to be a very gentle person.

To close: PRECEDENT, dammit, PRECEDENT!!! That's a very important concept in the legal profession. We need to set up Bush et al. as precedents to scare the crap out of future preznits who might try this crap again. Put 'em in prison and throw away the key!

Have you heard that rumor about Bush buying property in Paraguay in order to get out of the clutches of the US legal system? I have no idea if it's true or not, but hey! Wouldn't it be fun to put the Bushies in JAIL in Paraguay?? Or Colombia, or Bolivia or some such lovely vacation spot?

Fuck'em. Just fuck'em. There is no punishment too severe for these murdering bastards. Unfortunately, the best we're ever likely to get is a truth commission - but no punishment. In this regard, we're total pussies.
