Support New Public Workers Union in Lexington

More than police, more even than firefighters, the single most critical category of public employees is sanitation workers. Because when the garbage doesn't get picked up and hauled away, chaos reigns.

Phil N. Ferrill at Barefoot and Progressive:

(Yesterday), the Lexington sanitation workers seeking to join AFSCME launched a Facebook page for supporters of their drive to unionize. This seems like to spot to find out all the happenings with that campaign.

If you’re on Facebook, go like it!

No word from the city yet on the workers’ request for a union election, but, under the ordinance allowing city workers to collectively bargain, the city has until May 10 to respond.
