This 1970 humorous protest song bemoans the degradation of the environment and the loss of our connection with nature. Fed up with man’s lot Ray Davies sings that he wants to leave his modern life and live in the jungle or ‘sail away to a distant shore and make like an apeman.’

Sounds like a good plan except the distant shores are now all polluted and there’s not much jungle left!
