Big Government Bringing Free Health Care to E. KY

And all those Big Coal and Big Power companies getting away with literal murder in the mountains because they've bought off every politician in Kentucky? How many free health clinics have they provided lately?

(crickets)

Exactly.

From the Herald:

The University of Louisville is pitching in with dental and medical care in eastern Kentucky.

The school says more than 120 of its faculty, staff, students and alumni will provide the free care at Pike County Central High School on June 11 and 12.

Most of the 80-chair dental clinic will be staffed by U of L dental students and faculty. They will do extractions, fillings, cleanings, denture services and oral cancer screenings.

The clinic also will include medical exams, including screenings for cholesterol, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The school says several of its medical students and at least two medical faculty will help with the exams. The clinic also will offer eye exams.

This is the fourth year U of L has volunteered to serve the Appalachian region through Remote Area Medical, a nonprofit group.

And hey, you, new president of the University of Kentucky whose name nobody can remember: Check a map. UK is 75 miles closer to Eastern Kentucky than U of L is, yet UK is not providing free health care in the mountains. Could that have something to do with Big Coal buying off UK to the point of renaming whole buildings after the deadly shit?

Yes, it could and does have to do with King Coal's money. Good post.
