Modern Democrats Aren't Liberals - They Aren't Even Democrats

Which is exactly why we need to create more liberals.

Steve M:

But, as far as I can tell, Obama isn't failing to live up to traditional Democratic values so much as he's embodying modern Democratic values all too well. Modern Democrats fear losing elections so much that they won't lay a finger on the rich, even if that means alienating so many actual voters that they lose elections anyway. That's how most people operate in the Democratic Congress from which Obama emerged. Obama's just one of them.

UPDATE, 12:30 p.m.: In response to comments at They Gave Us A Republic, I wrote:

VERY Different Parties

While national Democrats 2011 edition are far to the right of national republicans 1981 edition, they are still far to the left of national republicans 2011 edition.

However much Democrats slide right, republicans race twice that far even further right.

This means there is still a HUGE difference between the parties.

But it also means national Democrats are way too far to the right of the American people.

It is up to us to drag them back several light years to the left.

Condemning both as equally bad doesn't accomplish that goal; only making more liberals will do that.
