From the Courier:
Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes wouldn’t set a time line on Tuesday for deciding on whether to challenge Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell in 2014, but she said she is still considering it.Judd - as a well-known and beloved figure and an out and proud liberal who could rouse the non-voting Democratic base - had a chance to beat McConnell. No other dem does. I'd like to think Grimes is smart enough to know that
“I’m continuing to talk with the supporters who helped me to get to be secretary of state,” Grimes said in a brief interview in Louisville.
Grimes said she is “gathering the facts” before making her decision.
“As a lawyer, you have to gather the facts to go into the courtroom to be the best advocate for your client and I’m doing that same thing here to be the best for our party,” she said.
Democrats are putting increasing pressure on Grimes to challenge McConnell because they believe he can be beaten in 2014 and because other top Democrats have chosen not to run.
But nobody ever lost money betting on Kentucky Democrats to be stupid.
