"We thought it would be funny"

I can't even ....

Jason Riley at the Courier:

The two Louisville boys who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting 16-year-old Savannah Dietrich told police they did it because they thought it would be “funny,” according to court records released Thursday under a Jefferson County judge’s order.

Both boys, who were 16 at the time of the assault, said in interviews with a Louisville Metro Police detective before their guilty pleas that they also took explicit pictures of her with their cellphones while she was intoxicated.

The February police interviews are among hundreds of pages of documents released under Chief District Court Judge Angela McCormick Bisig’s ruling this week that they should be open to the public.
Let's remember a few things here:
  1. Getting drunk is not a crime, even for a minor.
  2. Penetrating a vagina without permission IS a crime, even for a minor.
  3. Penetrating a vagina without permission IS rape, regardless of what the rapists plea-bargained.
  4. Savannah Dietrich requested the release of these records; her rapists fought against release.
  5. The rapists should have tattooed on their foreheads: "Ask me what's funny."
I can't imagine what other travesties of justice are hiding in closed juvenile court records.
